Kin Ryu Judo club are celebrating their latest successes following a great medal haul at the Beechwood Sacred Heart invitation held in Tumbridge Wells.

16 young Kin Ryu fighters competed in what was to be a tough event even for some of the clubs more seasoned players and although they were nervous they were determined to do their best.

The youngest aged between 5 and 7 took to the mats first and Kin Ryu was represented by 6 players, George Harman, Lia Thompson, Enrique Howells, Caitlin Gilmore, Katherine Burke and Susannah Neave.

All fought well and showed some great skill especially for their age and experience and resulted in Enrique, George and Susannah winning a bronze medal, Lia a silver medal and Katherine and Caitlin, taking the first gold medals of the day.

Following these were the fighters in the 8 -9 year old group.

The club was represented by Adam Funnell, Laura Kinder, William Burke, Samuel Howarth-Moore, Zack Wake, Jad Achagra and Alex Young.

All fought hard resulting in Alex, winning a bronze medal, Laura, Samuel and Jad winning a silver and Adam, Zack and Will taking gold a great achievement for this group of youngsters.

In the 10 years and over group Kin Ryu had 3 players representing the club, Jack Thompson, Corlia Robertson and Leanne Gilmore.

Determined to keep

up the success of the day, all the players fought hard and despite some tough fights, all came away with a Gold medal, a great finish to the day!
