Five members of Kin Ryu fought at the Dartford Invitation - at the newly built £3.5million Dartford Judo Club.
If any of the five young players were nervous, they never showed it and all fought with a maturity beyond their years.
The first to fight was Joseph O Doherty, who as one of the smallest players in the event has some bigger player to contend with in his group. He did this in an outstanding fashion winning all his fights with a perfect 10-point throw and taking the Gold in his group.
On the opposite mat, his brother David was also fighting. He won his first two fights with relative ease, which left him fighting for the gold medal position. Despite all his determination, David was just beaten in the final taking the Silver in his group.
After this, it was Kimberley’s turn and after taking Silver in the last event, she was determined to fight for gold. Kimberley narrowly lost her first fight then fought a nail-biter of a second fight - beating the girl she had lost to only weeks before in extra time. She then won her third fight to take Silver in her group.
Last to fight on adjacent mats were brother and sister Tommy and Elena Angus. Both fought well through their groups and won all three fights comfortably to take a Gold medal each in their groups.
With a medal tally of three Gold medals and two Silvers, this was the perfect end to a fun day.
