Martin's IJF Continental Refereeing Exam
18 June 2009

Martin travelled out to Celje in Slovenia for the Dax Cup and his IJF Continental Refereeing exam.

He joined the other 21 examinees, from 19 countries.

There was a spoken judo rule book theory examination on the Friday and the practical examination took place at the 32-country and 500-player event over 2 days.

Refereeing over a 12 hour period on the Saturday and 10 hours on the Sunday, all examinees were being watched and examined by four of the European Judo Unionís Refereeing Commission.

At 8.15pm on the Sunday, Martin was given the news that he was one of the 16 that had passed.

A great achievement, having started refereeing at the age of 12; and only 1 of 2 (first male) who have gone through the complete British Junior and Senior Refereeing System.
