Martin travelled out with Tonbridge Judo Club to Lund in Sweden to referee at the Budo Nord Youth event.

The following day, he was joined by eleven members of the club to take part in the Lugi judo camp.

This is a three day training camp and competition with coaching from some of the top judo players in Europe including former Olympic, World, and European Champions.

All players took part in the camp and capitalised on the opportunities they were given and two Kin Ryu players, Andrew Robertson and David O’Doherty fought in the Lugi Kids Cup.

Andrew was in a tough group giving away nearly 6kgs as he was the lightest player in the competition, and although he didn’t win any fights he fought well and showed that he was able to fight at this level and should be proud of his performance.

David also fought well and easily won his pool beating the boys from Germany, Poland and France with no fight lasting longer than a few seconds.

In the semi-final David fought well but couldn’t get past the home Swedish player and he had to settle for a well deserved bronze medal.

Although tired everyone finished the camp in good spirits and looking forward to next year.

Well done to all!!
