On Sunday 22nd April two members, Zoe Killick and Beckie Kirkham competed at the Sussex Trials at Durrington Leisure Centre in Worthing.

This event matches the best young judo players in Sussex against one another to compete for a place in the 2007 Sussex Judo Squad.

From the squad, 11 are then chosen to represent Sussex at the Southern Area Inter-County Team Championships, which sees teams from Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and Surrey fight for the title of Top County.

Both girls knew this was going to be a tough day but were both up for the challenge.

Beckie fought first and was unlucky to lose to the eventual winner but took a well-deserved Silver medal.

Zoe fought next and despite moving up a weight group, by just 100 grams, still took a Bronze medal.

Both attended the subsequent Sussex Squad Training and Beckie was selected for the team.

The Team Championships was held last weekend and Beckie fought well against tough opposition, helping the Sussex Girls take third place and a bronze medal.
